  Connemara Walking Weekend
   
  This is a great weekend break within easy reach of Galway City (1 hour’s drive). This gives people a healthy and fulfilling option to spend their weekend. You will be based in the stunning setting of K2 Centre, overlooking Killary Harbour with the mountain of Mweelrea providing a majestic backdrop. It is reachable by bus from Galway City or Westport, and allows you to spend a leisurely weekend in one of Ireland’s most beautiful areas.

Discover the unique beauty of the famine track along Killary Harbour as well as a visit to the chapel of Maumean with its rich history as a pilgrim’s waypoint. Spend your evenings in the relaxing environment of K2 or enjoy the lively craic in the local pubs.

You can leave all preparation to us as we provide notes and maps; arrange all transfers to and from walks so you are free to enjoy your weekend without a care in the world.

Duration:   3 Days (2 nights)
Tour Dates 2010:   ANY DATE (April - October)
Level:   Moderate walking, with some hill on day 2 and road walking day 3.
Equipment:   You are provided with route notes and maps, but correct rain proof gear and walking boots are essential to bring with you.
Accommodation:   Depending on the option:
3* Hotels, B&Bs & Guesthouse or Hostels.
Meals:   2 Irish breakfasts,
Transfers:   Transfers to and from walks
Miscellaneous:   Detailed route notes and maps.
Arrival Point:   You arrive to Leenane

All prices are in EURO, and based on per person sharing. Per person sharing means two people in one room. Single Room supplement is applied when people require a room for themselves as part of a booking of two or more.  Bookings are based on a minimum of two people booking.
 

Daily Itinerary
 

DAY 1

Make your way from Galway to Leenane, Co. Galway, where you will stay the night two nights in an en-suite room. Warm welcome and chance to settle in. You will be given your route pack and general information that you can go through.  The full itinerary of your weekend will be outlined.

DAY 2 – Distance 15km off road and road walk with short climb

You will enjoy a Full-Irish breakfast and before being picked up and transferred to the starting point of today’s walk. You will make your way with a climb to the chapel of Maumean with its superb views of the Inagh Valley.  Stop for some lunch before continuing along your way as far as Keane’s Bar in Maum.  Enjoy a well-deserved drink before your lift arrives to bring you back to Leenane. 

DAY 3 – Distance 15km off road and road walking

After breakfast your walk today will bring you along the Famine Track, a wild and beautiful path along a long obsolete road used in Famine times with its impressive coastal views.   You will overlook Killary Harbour as you make your way from Rosroe.  From there you will then make your way along the Western Way route into Leenane.  You collect your baggage from your accommodation and depart Killary.
