  This tour takes in all that is best on the West Coast of Ireland. Starting in County Kerry, we then cross the river Shannon into County Clare to the magical Burren area and finish the weekend in County Mayo. This tour combines the most fascinating and beautiful areas of Ireland, and offers an authentic and unhurried Irish experience on foot at an easy pace.

The destinations visited will not fail to delight you; they are the most unique and remarkable places in Ireland, and offer a rare chance to experience our music, people, culture, and landscape.

You will climb Torc Mountain in Killarney, view the cliff top promontory forts on the Aran Islands and walk in the footsteps of Irelands patron saint, Patrick, as you climb Croagh Patrick for breathtaking views of Clew Bay and the Connemara Mountains.

Group Size:   Individuals but a minimum of 6 and max of 12 in final group.
Equipment:   This is a guided tour but correct rainproof gear and walking boots are essential to bring with you.

Daily Itinerary
 

DAY 1
Saturday: Meet Shannon Airport at 11am approx in the main arrivals Lounge. We then drive to Tralee - the principal town of County Kerry. Our accommodation for the next two nights is in a B&B on the edge of the town center, well within walking distance. Saturday afternoon is free for you to ramble and explore the town and an opportunity for some shopping. Dinner tonight is in a restaurant in Tralee town.

DAY 2
Sunday: Breakfast 08.30. We depart for our first hike at 09.30. Today we travel East towards Killarney and climb Torc Mountain. At 1765 feet the summit commands a fabulous view of all three lakes, the mountains and Killarney town, weather conditions allowing. Afterwards, time permitting you will have the chance for a drink in Killarney before heading back to Tralee. Dinner will be taken in a local restaurant.

DAY 3

Monday: We depart Tralee at 08.30 and cross the Shannon. Our accommodation for the next two nights is a small, comfortable family ran Hotel in Lisdoonvarna. After Checking in at the hotel, we will depart for our afternoons hike. Our trip today is a circular route that crosses the scarred and pitted limestone that make the Burren the unique place that it is. Walking time today should be no more than 4 hours getting us back in plenty of time for Dinner. Music is normally on offer in the local pub commencing around 10pm.

DAY 4
Tuesday: We visit the world famous Inishmore on the Aran Islands, for cliff top promontory forts, stone walls, Native Gaelic speakers and wonderful views, this is the place to be. Our walk is a circular 8-mile trek along green roads that cross the high cliffs of the Island. We return to Lisdoonvarna for dinner in our hotel.

DAY 5
Wednesday: We depart Co Clare for Co Mayo stopping en route for a six-mile hike along Ireland’s only fiord at Killary Harbour. By late afternoon we arrive at our B&B on the outskirts of Westport. Dinner tonight is in our B&B.

DAY 6
Thursday: After the hectic activities of the week so far, today may come as a welcome free day for you to spend in Westport town, Shop, Browse or catch up on your email with plenty of Internet cafes. There is no organized evening meal tonight but with a wonderful selection of restaurants and pubs, it should not be a problem to find somewhere that suits all tastes and pockets.

DAY 7
Friday: A short bus ride, we visit Ireland’s National Famine monument “The Coffin Ship “ at the foot of Croagh Patrick Mountain. Our hike today takes us up the gravel strewn pilgrim path to the first station at 1750 feet. Our route then turns southwards where we pick up the Western Way, along green roads back to our accommodation. The total distance is 13km with an ascent of 1750 feet. Our farewell dinner is in your B&B

DAY 8
Saturday: Airport arriving there before 11am.
